OVERVIEW - Why She’s the Real Deal
Nancy Morse, SIOR, is the senior managing director at Newmark in San Jose, Calif. When she’s not driving results for her clients or earning awards like the CoreNet Global Northern California Chapter’s Corporate Real Estate Service Provider of the Year, Nancy is busy making a positive impact in her community and indulging her love of cooking. Nancy volunteers with numerous charities and nonprofits, serves as SIOR’s West Regional Director, and is on the Susan G. Komen Executive Leadership Team. —She's more than just an SIOR.
HIGHLIGHTS - Get to Know Nancy
SR: What’s one thing you’ve always wanted to try or learn but haven’t yet?
NM: To learn Italian. I come from an Italian family. I would love to learn the language by truly immerse myself in an Italian village to learn more about the food and the culture.
SR: Flashback to when you were 10 years old. What did you wanted to be when you grew up?
NM: Growing up around a ranch, I wanted to be a female farmer. Once my mom heard that she made sure I got involve in 4-H to stay in the city and off the ranch.
SR: What’s your best tip for staying motivated in everything you do?
NM: Creating something to look forward to.
SR: If your life were a movie, what would the title be and who would play you?
NM: The Fanciful Roar. Nicole Kidman playing Fancy Nancy. The roaring 20’s generated great growth, great wealth, excitement on the art front, everyone was living life to its fullest, and a few women had opportunities to make great wealth.
SR: What's your favorite spot for relaxation?
NM: Lake Tahoe. I love summers in Tahoe; it is my happy spot. Sitting on the end of pier is the most peaceful spot where I have clearest thinking.
SR: If you were a superhero, what would your superpower be?
NM: Bringing people together.
SR: What fictional character do you associate with most and why?
NM: Any Disney Character. I love the magical world of Disney and the Disney Princesses.
SR: If you had to give a TED Talk on any topic, what would you choose?
NM: How being involved in outside organizations can fulfill you more than just work.
SR: What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned through your involvement with the Kitchen Collective Urban Cooking Club?
NM: It is all about creating the experience of good food and wine that brings people together and opens them up.
SR: What’s one community initiative you’d love to start or get more involved with in the future?
NM: Connecting local vendors and restaurants with food co-ops or food bank to help those get access to the extra good food in our community.
SR: What’s the most spontaneous thing you’ve ever done—and would you do it again?
NM: Going to the Master Golf Tournament with a last-minute invitation! It is so amazingly special I would do it again and again.
