SIOR Austin / Central Texas Chapter Tours Latest Downtown Highrise

The SIOR Austin / Central Texas Chapter hosted a tour of the brand new, 375,000 square foot, Third + Shoal Tower on Feb. 19 in downtown Austin, Texas. The building will soon house Facebook, Bank of America, and Merrill Lynch. After taking in the sights from the 29th floor, the Chapter went next door to North Italia for happy hour and hors d’oeuvres.



SIOR Canada East Chapter Hits the Slopes

The SIOR Canada East Chapter hosted its annual ski event in late March at the Mont-Tremblant Ski Resort in Quebec, Canada. One hundred thirty-five attendees enjoyed a VIP cocktail reception, followed by a day of skiing and an après ski event.



SIOR Florida Chapter Springs into Power

The SIOR Florida Chapter held its annual Spring Conference at the Gaylord Palms in Orlando, Fla., March 14-15. The 115 attendees heard updates on Florida office markets and participated in a workshop titled “The Power to Convene.” Retired Army Sergeant Major Raymond F. Chandler, III, gave the keynote speech on leadership during times of transition. SIOR President-Elect, Mark Duclos, SIOR, and regional director, Jeff Wilke, SIOR, were also in attendance.



SIOR Inland Empire and Orange County Chapter Honors World War II and Pearl Harbor Veterans at the General Lyon Air Museum

In February, the SIOR Inland Empire and Orange County Chapter visited the Lyon Air Museum located in Santa Ana, Calif. The museum focuses on World War II aircrafts, automobiles, and other wartime memorabilia. More than 70 members, Chapter sponsors, and guests enjoyed a cocktail hour, dinner, and a keynote presentation from the Honorable Frederick P. Aguirre (ret), a former judge with the Orange County Superior Court.



SIOR Inland Empire and Orange County Chapter celebrates Largest Transaction Awards and Regional Market Update


In March, the SIOR Inland Empire and Orange County Chapter held its annual Transaction Awards event at The Water Grill in Costa Mesa, Calif. Speakers Tim Pimentel, SIOR; Tom Pierik, SIOR; Rick Ellison, SIOR; and Stefan Rogers, SIOR, presented office and industrial market updates to the 65 attendees. The evening concluded by recognizing the winners of the Chapter’s 2018 Largest Transaction Awards. Winners included: Joey Sugar, SIOR, for Largest Industrial Sale at $99.5 million; Scott Sanders, SIOR, and Kevin McKenna, SIOR, for Largest Industrial Lease Transaction at $79.4 million; Paul Earnhart, SIOR, and Doug Earnhart, SIOR, for Largest Office Sale Transaction at $30.7 million; and Thomas Pierik, SIOR, and David Mudge, SIOR, for Largest Office Lease Transaction at $12.2 million.



SIOR Memphis Chapter lunches with Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris

In February, Shelby County Mayor  Lee Harris, joined 25 members and guests of the SIOR Memphis Chapter at the Chickasaw Country Club luncheon in Memphis, Tenn. Harris shared with the group a recap of his term in office thus far and projects on the horizon.

The SIOR Northern California Chapter annual wine dinner was held at Del Dotto Winery in St. Helena, Calif. on March 21. Sixty-five attendees enjoyed a tour of the winery, followed by a four-course paired dinner and a presentation by Rob McMillan, executive vice president and founder of Silicon Valley Bank wine division.






SIOR Northwest Region Meets in the Valley

World-class skiing, fabulous dining, and a stunning resort location drew nearly 50 guests to the 2019 SIOR Northwest Regional Winter Conference held in Sun Valley, Idaho, Feb. 7-9. Conference participants hailed from nine states and enjoyed presentations by Neil Nelson of ESI Construction, and keynote speaker, Geoffrey Kasselman, SIOR.



SIOR Ohio Chapter Flies High with Spring Meeting

In March, 70 people attended the SIOR Ohio Chapter Spring Meeting, held at the National Airforce Museum on Wright Patterson Airforce Base in Dayton, Ohio. The attendees viewed the movie “Fighter Pilot” in 3D which covered the history of the United States Airforce. After the film, attendees broke up to test their skills against fighter pilot and space shuttle simulations.



SIOR Philadelphia Chapter 2019 Annual Economic Outlook


On Jan. 16, the SIOR Philadelphia Chapter teamed up with the PA/NJ/DE CCIM Chapter and CREW Philadelphia to host its annual economic forecast, featuring Dr. Peter Linneman. High above Center City Philadelphia at the Pyramid Club, Dr. Linneman captivated a sold-out room of 130 attendees with his insights.



SIOR Philadelphia Chapter Gets Technical with Blockchain in Real Estate

On March 20, Bill Evans of Liberty Fox Technologies spoke to the SIOR Philadelphia Chapter on how blockchain can help create transparent deals. The event brought together 38 SIOR members and prospects for an evening of education and networking at Seasons 52 in King of Prussia, Penn.



SIOR Southern Nevada Chapter Makes it Matter


On March 13, a record 116 attendees came together at Maggiano’s in Las Vegas to hear about current development projects from Matter Real Estate Group, including UnCommons—the first mixed-use project of its kind in Las Vegas. Matter partners Tom van Betten, SIOR, and Jim Stuart gave an overview of several additional industrial projects, which are in various stages of design and construction and total over 1.5 million square feet.



SIOR St. Louis Chapter Hosts its Biggest Event

On Feb. 26, the SIOR St. Louis Chapter held its 35th annual Metro Market Forecast in Clayton, Mo., with more than 700 attendees. Geoff Orf, SIOR, and Jim Mosby, SIOR, gave an hour-long presentation that covered an overview of the local office and industrial markets. SIOR Global President, Robert Thornburgh, SIOR, attended as a special guest.
