SIOR European Regional Chapter "Tackles" Leadership with Irish Rugby Legend, Gordon D'Arcy

SIOR Global President, Mark Duclos, SIOR, and the European Regional Chapter welcomed Irish rugby star, Gordon D’Arcy, to the Chapter’s Annual General Meeting and luncheon at the Royal Dublin Society. While the nation celebrated the first match of the Guinness Six Nations Championship, the discussion, sprinkled with amusing rugby and golf anecdotes, quickly led into valuable leadership insight. D’Arcy spoke eloquently about the link between high performance in sports and business. James Mulhall, SIOR, from event sponsor, Murphy Mulhall, moderated a lively Q&A following the lunch meeting.

Just before the pandemic immobilized the nation, the SIOR Florida Chapter held its Spring Conference in Orlando. Although the looming cloud of COVID-19 impacted attendance, two presentations—one on legal and practical implications of evolving technology on commercial real estate and the other addressing the high-speed private rail expansion by Virgin Trains—kept attendees and sponsors enraptured. To round out the conference, the Chapter celebrated the contributions of its retiring members and 2019 Chapter President, J.R. Steinbauer, Jr, SIOR.





Economic Forecast Kick-Starts a New Decade for SIOR Philadelphia Chapter

One of SIOR’s greatest strengths is growing and maintaining relationships. Annually, the SIOR Philadelphia Chapter joins with three other local commercial real estate associations (CCIM, CREW, and IFMA) to host an Economic Forecast for the region. This year, the group welcomed speakers Lauren Gilchrist and KC Conway, providing pre-COVID-19 insight on the labor market, multifamily sector, office availability, and a host of other topics. “Philadelphia will be the place where cancer is cured because of the emerging cell and gene therapy sector," said Gilchrist. She also noted that lab rents have remained low despite high levels of occupancy and that the life sciences sector is attracting record levels of venture capital investment. Will this be true after the pandemic? Time will tell.




SIOR St. Louis Chapter Hosts 36th Annual Metro Market Forecast

One of the “must-attend” events for the St. Louis CRE industry, the SIOR St. Louis Chapter held its 36th Annual Metro Market Forecast, welcoming over 700 attendees. This year, presenters included SIOR Global President Mark Duclos, SIOR, and SIOR St. Louis Chapter President, Scott Savacool, SIOR. Tripp Hardin, SIOR, also spoke, sharing insights on office trends, while Matt Hrubes and Matt Bukhshtaber addressed the industrial and multi-family sectors respectively
