In an unprecedented time in our lives, many in our industry are trying to understand the next steps. SIOR has been a leader in overcoming adversity before and will remain a leader for our industry during this crisis. SIOR was founded in the 40s to assist with wartime efforts and rose again to help during the recession of 2008. We will continue assisting our industry in being safe and healthy as we guide our clients throughout the coming months.
And the SIOR Foundation will be here for our members! We will assist our industry and will keep our mission moving forward. Thanks to many years of sound stewardship, the Foundation is financially strong and stable. We are able to weather the current storm and will continue to support all of our programs for students, chapters, and the real estate industry!
The Foundation was honored to be able to sponsor the first ever Virtual General Session on April 30. The session featured Andrew Busch and was a huge success! If you were unable to view the session live, SIOR members can still access it through MySIOR. Make sure to check it out!
During the past two months, The SIOR Foundation has been excited to help SIOR chapters continue and expand their scholarship programs. Over $56,000 in scholarships have been given to 13 students at 8 different universities. In the coming months, we will be supporting the Real Estate Executive Council’s Summer Program that will introduce commercial real estate to over 100 gifted and talented young people from all over the country. We will also be a sponsor of the Florida Chapter’s University Challenge, an exciting program that invites MRED students to submit solutions for real world CRE problems.
We are members of the greatest real estate association, in large part because of our gratitude, ethics, and camaraderie. Students and local SIOR chapters need our support now and in in the coming months. The SIOR Foundation and its board of trustees remain committed to serving you and are available to help. There are plenty of funds left in our budget this year, so if you chapter has had an event or given recent scholarships, make sure to apply for our matching grants.
