HIGHLIGHTS - Get to Know Seth

SR: What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
SE: Work related? “If you don’t ask, you don’t know.” Marriage related? “Just do what she says and there won’t be an argument.”

SR: Do you have any skills, talents, or hobbies that most people don’t know about?
SE: Most people don’t know that I’m Air Blue, the Indianapolis Colts gameday inflatable mascot! This is going to be my 15th year….if we have an NFL season.

SR: What is your most embarrassing moment you feel comfortable sharing?
SE:
I don’t get embarrassed often, but one moment will forever haunt me. Right after our first child was born, I had just finished changing a poopy diaper. I went downstairs to the vending machines and ran into the hospital CFO, who I knew pretty well. We shook hands and went our separate ways. As he walked away, I went to put money in the vending machine and noticed I had missed washing some baby poo off my hand…the hand I just shook with….

SR:What ridiculous thing has someone tricked you into doing or believing?
SE: My best friend, Trey, is the main mascot for the Indianapolis Colts, Blue. As his sidekick and often times punching bag, he has roped me into all sorts of antics for pregame skits in front of thousands of people. Which are—but not limited to—dancing to “Single Ladies” in a leotard, getting pied in the face numerous times, wearing extremely tight pants, and dressing up as a woman…the list goes on.

SR: If you could do any other job right now, what would you do? You know, besides dancing to Single Ladies in a leotard?
SE: LEGO engineer. I would love to be able to create new products for other people to build. My son is five now and is full steam ahead in LEGO building. We sit for hours at a time and just use our imaginations and create all sorts of fun stuff together.

SR: Who is someone you admire and why?
SE: My wife, Adrienne. She usually stays at home and takes care of the kids. With the pandemic, there is no school, no events, no “away from home” public activities. She has worked tirelessly to make time for education, entertainment, exercise, etc. She really has stepped up, put the kids first and has sacrificed a ton for our family. For that I am grateful and she has my full admiration! Love you, A!

SR: What are three pet peeves you have?
SE: 1) At Work: People who are too cocky. 2) At Home: Not Listening. 3) At Basketball: Playing with people who don’t hustle.

SR: What are some causes you care about?
SE:
I care a lot about missionary service and have a great love for people who take their personal time to go and serve others. I work with Teach to Transform which equips partners around the world with medical and vocational skills while instilling the gospel in areas of need. With the kids, it has been hard to go on a trip the last five or six years. My wife and I can’t wait until we can go back and serve the Lord in some of his most needed countries.

SR: A penguin walks through that door right now wearing a sombrero. What does he say?
SE: “So this is Kentucky… point me to the Bourbon!”

SR: What’s the greatest risk you’ve ever taken?
SE:
Coming to TRIO seven years ago was a huge risk. I had no clients and I had to start my book of business from scratch. I was newly married and we had just bought our first house…success was my only option.

SR: What book are you currently reading?
SE: The timing of this question is funny. I NEVER read books, but I am actually in the middle of one now. When a local radio host I listen to daily (Matt Jones of Kentucky Sports Radio) announced he was writing a book, I knew I was going to read it. It is called “Mitch, Please”. It’s a book about Mitch McConnell, Matt the author, and the state of Kentucky. I’m about halfway through now and it’s been interesting.
