It was wonderful being able to see so many of you in Phoenix this past April—TransACT 360 was all it promised to be and more! The SIOR Foundation was able to invite students back for the first time in two and half years through the Student Real Estate Experience Program. We had five real estate students, mentored by three SIOR chapters, join us in Phoenix. Ebee Johnson (Clemson), Caitlin Korsak, John Bondanza (both of University of Tampa), Nick Macisco, and Junior Moreira (both of University of Connecticut) were able to experience SIOR and the commercial real estate industry firsthand. The students were truly impressive and were, in turn, impressed by SIOR. Moreira stated “(The conference) … was truly a remarkable experience that will help me grow as I attempt to make a career in real estate. I was able to learn so much about the commercial real estate industry and meet some of the best real estate professionals from around the country.”
As a bonus, the Foundation was able to welcome one of our 2022 Mildred C. Hanson, SIOR, Memorial Scholarship recipients to the conference. Aesha Mehta, a junior at Rutgers University, truly exemplifies why we at the Foundation do what we do. Mehta and the other students soaked up everything they could at the conference, making contacts and learning all about SIOR. It is truly a blessing to be able to help these young scholars as they begin their journey in commercial real estate.
On behalf of the SIOR Foundation Board of Trustees, THANK YOU! This year’s Great Escape Giveaway was a huge success! Thanks to your support, the Foundation netted $32,680 to support its programs and initiatives. Bill Cox, SIOR, Carey Cox Company, will receive a $5,000 travel voucher to plan his dream vacation with the services of Angie Ohmes at Golden Cruise and Travel.
