Dear SIOR Members and Industry Colleagues,
It was great to see so many of you in Las Vegas! I very much appreciated the opportunity to update you about the SIOR Foundation’s accomplishments and goals and want to thank you for taking the time to listen.
During the opening general session, I was honored to present the SIOR Foundation’s Distinguished Service Award to Stan Kleweno. Stan has served as the Foundation’s Treasurer for nearly 14 years. He has watched every penny, helped us invest wisely, worked to vet every group that has asked for our support and never asked for anything in return. During his time as Treasurer, Stan strengthened the Foundation’s financial stability while enabling us to triple our support to SIOR Global, SIOR Chapters and our dedicated industry partners. Thank you, Stan, for all that you do!
We had an impressive group of students join us in Las Vegas for the Student Real Estate Experience Program. There were 12 students representing 8 different universities and 2 countries! Thanks to the advice she received from many connections she made while at the conference, one student, Mallory Murray, has acquired a position at Newmark NYC. As SIOR President-Elect, Saadia Shiekh, SIOR, stated “This is what SIOR + SIOR Foundation is all about.”
We took a photo of Nathaniel MacLeod, Alex Eversole, John Cassol, Erik Wojenski, Jacob DiScuillo, Daniel Gaudet, Chris Beard, Mallory Murray, Emma Babbidge, Andreas Dupuy, Thomas Schaefer, and the Mildred C. Hanson SIOR Memorial Scholarship Recipient, Katelynn Wiseman. These scholars will certainly go far. Thanks those of you who took the time to meet them and guide them through opportunities to network and learn at the conference.
This year’s Great Escape Giveaway was a tremendous success! And the winners are…David Hagan, CBRE and Melanie Jackson, Cushman and Wakefield. They will each receive a $5000 travel voucher to plan their dream vacation with the services of Golden Cruise and Travel. Thanks to your generosity, the Foundation received $43,400 to support its programs and initiatives. The Foundation has just one paid employee, so almost every dollar we receive goes straight back to SIOR and the industry at large for education, scholarships and so much more.
A special thanks to our sponsors, the St. Lucie EDC and Property Resource Group, Fargo, ND, without whom we would not be able to continue this annual tradition. Thank you for helping the SIOR Foundation continue to Educate, Enhance, and Expand the commercial real estate community.
Sincerely,
Ted Konigsberg, SIOR
