SIOR Carolinas Chapter Hosts Record Setting Regional Convention
The SIOR Carolinas Chapter hosted the 2019 SIOR Southeast Regional Convention, Aug. 21-23 at the Belmond Charleston Place Hotel, with record attendance of almost 400 attendees from across the southeast region. Highlights included a keynote speech by Barry Wehmiller chairman and CEO, Bob Chapman, on “The Privilege of Leadership” as well as networking events on the USS Yorktown and at the historic Riviera Theater.
SIOR Chicago Chapter Golfs Rain or Shine
The SIOR Chicago Chapter held its annual golf outing on July 29 at Chicago Highlands Club in Westchester, Ill. One hundred forty-four golfers attended and enjoyed the day of comradery despite a brief rain shower.
SIOR Connecticut/Western Massachusetts Chapter Tours New Facility
On Sept. 19, the SIOR Connecticut/Western Massachusetts Chapter hosted 36 attendees at its Fall 2019 meeting at the newly-constructed TPC Clubhouse at River Highlands in Cromwell, Conn. Event sponsor Bartlett Brainard Eacott’s Gerry Holland and Chapter sponsor PES Structural Engineer’s Dave Aucoin and Dave Brownell gave a presentation and tour of the facility, including a breathtaking view of the 18th green and fairway from the upper deck. Additionally, SIOR associate member Pat Wellspeak of Wellspeak, Dugas & Kane spoke on challenges facing the Connecticut commercial real estate market and having a positive outlook in the industrial and multi-family sectors.
SIOR Inland Empire and Orange County Chapter Gets Trendy
The SIOR Inland Empire and Orange County Chapter welcomed Darin Chidsey, Chief Operating Officer for Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) to speak at The Center Club in Costa Mesa, Calif., on Sept. 17. Close to 60 members and sponsors attended. As COO, Chidsey helps manage the world’s largest land planning agency in the world, covering six counties, 38,000 square miles, and a population of 19 million. The discussion centered around projections of growth within the SCAG boundaries in order to help members better advise their clients about population and building trends.
SIOR Inland Empire and Orange County Chapter Hosts Cruise
On Sept. 26, 40 members and sponsors of the SIOR Inland Empire and Orange County Chapter reveled in a sunset sponsor appreciation cruise around Balboa Island, Newport Beach, Calif. The group enjoyed networking while reminiscing about the deals of 2019 and pondering the future of the industry in the years ahead.
SIOR Minnesota Chapter Travels to Sioux Falls
In late September, 25 members of the SIOR Minnesota Chapter traveled to Sioux Falls, S.D., for a memorable trip filled with learning, lunch, and golf. Mayor Paul Ten Haken and Chief of Staff Erica Beck provided an update on the City of Sioux Falls and its plans for future growth. The Chapter then attended the Sanford International PGA Champions Pro-Am.
SIOR Northern California Chapter Takes in Baseball and Views
On Aug. 8, the SIOR Northern California Chapter held its annual Tahoe Dinner, featuring former San Francisco Giant, J.T. Snow, who shared an insider’s perspective on baseball and responded to questions from the audience. Seventy members and guests attended to enjoy networking and the lakeside views at Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe in Incline Village, Nev.
SIOR Northern California Chapter Enjoys Waterfront Dinner
On Sept. 19, the SIOR Northern California Chapter held a networking event at the Prologis office overlooking the Bay Bridge followed by dinner at La Mar Cebicheria Peruana in San Francisco. A total of 55 members and guests enjoyed dining on the patio before the end of summer.
SIOR Philadelphia Chapter Plans Its Future and Celebrates Its Past
On July 17, the SIOR Philadelphia Chapter held its Annual Meeting at Seasons 52 in King of Prussia, Pa. More than 30 members attended to elect officers, learn about chapter activities and catch up with friends. In recognition of his history as an SIOR and contributor to the chapter, members also recognized Sidney Gable, SIOR, who became a member in 1961.
SIOR Philadelphia Chapter Networks at Industrial Property Summit
The SIOR Philadelphia Chapter hosted its 17th Annual Industrial Property Summit with more than 100 attendees on Sept. 9-10 at the scenic Bear Creek Mountain Resort in Macungie, Pa. The agenda included a networking breakfast with event sponsors, a developer panel moderated by John Van Buskirk, SIOR, and an SIOR Global update from SIOR Global President-Elect, Patrick Sentner, SIOR.
