Exciting things are happening at SIOR! It’s a great time to be a part of this organization and I feel honored to have the opportunity to serve as your President. I’d like to once again thank Robert Thornburgh, SIOR, for his tremendous leadership this past year, as well as all our leaders and SIOR staff. Your efforts and expertise have placed SIOR in the enviable position of continued growth and unprecedented economic stability.
This growth and stability allow us to continue to execute a three-year strategic plan that focuses on short and long-term goals. What does that look like in 2020?
1. Membership: Increase and equitable balance of our membership as measured by specialty, gender, and ethnicity.
2. Member & Chapter Experience: Increasing member value and the quality of the member and chapter experience at the local and regional level.
3. Revenue Growth: Simply put, strengthening our partnerships with our existing sponsors and exhibitors and creating new partnerships.
To that last point, we are pleased to welcome John Manganiello as SIOR’s first senior vice president of business development. We could not be happier to have John (a long-time supporter of SIOR, and someone many of you know well) as SIOR’s first employee fully dedicated to the growth and development of our sponsor base and relationships.
Speaking of relationships, SIOR means a lot of things to a lot of people. But almost universally, SIOR is known as an organization of relationships. Long lasting relationships between our members, our partners, and our clients. We spend a lot of time talking about how much our members produce—which we should—but what really makes us DIFFERENT is not just WHAT we do, but WHO we are. We are not bonded by our numbers. We are bonded by our relationships, our trust in each other, the respect of our colleagues, and our understanding that each of us is dedicated to excellence. To that, leadership at SIOR is dedicated to ensuring the “SIOR” after your name and the pin on your lapel clearly defines two things…WHO you are and WHAT you do.
My fellow leadership team and I are all looking forward to carrying the SIOR flag this coming year. We’re excited to meet all of you along the way as we confirm what makes this organization the very best organization in commercial real estate…YOU!!
