SIOR has impacted my career in more ways than I can truly express, so I am incredibly honored to be writing this letter as your newest SIOR Global president. What better way to get started than by helping to kick off SIOR’s third-largest conference in history this past October in Dallas. I want to take a moment to thank the sponsors, exhibitors, attendees, speakers, and the entire HQ team for making it happen! It was truly an event for the ages, and I have over 1,000 other attendees who can back that claim.

I would be remiss to not thank my outstanding predecessor, Patrick Sentner, SIOR, for guiding the organization over the past year with the patience, determination, and humor that only a great president can have. You reached the goal that all leaders strive for: leaving your role as president with an organization that’s even better than it was when you began, and I can’t wait to experience the upward trajectory of your legacy.

And what a trajectory it is! Each day, we experience the continued evolution of our industry, and to know that there are now nearly 3,700 best-in-class SIOR members around the world gives me great confidence in what lies ahead. SIOR continues to bring in leaders of every age, nationality, gender, and background, partnering with other like-minded organizations, to ensure that we too leave the industry better than we left it. As a woman who has faced so many hurdles to get to the role I have, I’m so proud to be part of this growing initiative of inclusivity.

This issue holds so many golden nuggets for us to bring to our careers, colleagues, and clients! I especially enjoyed the article “What’s In Store for Self-Storage” as it explores the continued development—and possible derailment—of what’s been a pretty steady performer of industrial real estate (something I might be a bit passionate about…) I hope you enjoy it and the other pieces as much as I did.

I look forward to all that’s ahead in this next year for SIOR and for the industry-at-large, and welcome the great memories we’re sure to make. Here’s to an amazing 2022 and an even better 2023!
