Sim is an experienced 30+ year veteran in the Atlanta commercial real estate market. He has been with King Industrial Realty for 20+ years where he has served as President since 2008. Sim believes that education, learning and networking should be a life time endeavor and he has backed up these beliefs with action. He is an active member and holds four professional designations; SIOR, CCIM, MCR and SLCR putting him in an elite group of brokers that hold all four designations.

Sim Doughtie is an Atlanta native, and a graduate of Georgia State University’s School of Business, where he majored in real estate and management. While attending Georgia State, he served as president of his fraternity, Pi Kappa Alpha.

Sim and his wife, Tricia, are members of the Peachtree Presbyterian Church, The Atlanta Track Club, and The Concourse Athletic Club.

Sim Doughtie is an experienced 30+ year veteran in the Atlanta commercial real estate market. He has been with King Industrial Realty, Inc. for 20+ years where he has served as President of the firm since 2008. Sim is a Life Member of The Million Dollar Club through the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors, and in 2003, received The Phoenix Award for ten consecutive years of outstanding sales and leasing achievement.

Sim has worked on many notable assignments over the years. The largest being the Regional Distribution Center for General Mills. This build-to-suit project on 130± acres developed and built by The Rockefeller Development Group consisting of 1,508,765 total square feet was the largest LEED Certified Gold facility ever built in the United States at the time of its completion.

Sim also represented McMaster-Carr with their relocation efforts to purchase 112 acres in Douglas County to build a new regional ecommerce fulfillment distribution facility for their online internet sales business totaling 700,000 square feet (expandable to 1,000,000 square feet).

Being a creative thinker, Sim devised the plan to re-purpose the 90± acres where the twice failed regional mall known as Shannon Mall/Union Station Mall was located. Sim contacted the Mayor Pro Tem of Union City and arranged for the Mall to be re-zoned to TCMU (all commercial uses), and contacted Rooker Properties who put the site under contract, closed, and now plans to re-develop the property with either an ecommerce user and/or a mixed use project.

Sim believes that education, learning and networking should be a life time endeavor and he has backed up these beliefs with action. He is an active member in a number of organizations that are listed below and he currently holds four professional designations; SIOR, CCIM, MCR and SLCR. The SIOR (Society of Industrial and Office Realtors) designation and their members are recognized worldwide as the most capable and successful commercial real estate practitioners in any market. Sim has served as a past President of the Georgia Chapter of SIOR. The CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member) designation and its members are recognized as experts in the commercial and investment real estate industry worldwide. Sim has served on the Board of Directors of the Georgia Chapter in previous years. The MCR (Masters of Corporate Real Estate) and SLCR (Senior Leader of Corporate Real Estate) designations were earned through his membership with CoreNet Global, which is the world’s premier association for corporate real estate professionals.

During his career, Sim has earned a solid reputation as an expert in the Atlanta commercial real estate market, and he is regularly invited by various groups to speak and/or participate on expert panels as either the moderator or as a panelist. The organizations on this extensive list include the following: Globe Street TV, Michael Bull Radio Show, France Media’s Southeast Real Estate Business magazine – Industrial Round Table, CORFAC International conferences, CCIM Southeast Regional Conference, CCIM Georgia Chapter, SIOR Southeast Regional Conference, SIOR Georgia Chapter, The Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors, The Atlanta Chamber of Commerce – Supply Chain Leadership Council, The Appraisal Institute of Atlanta, The Databank Symposium and a number of Vistage Groups in the Atlanta area.
