SIOR Announces Tom McCormick, SIOR, as new Chief Executive Officer
SIOR is pleased to announce it has named Tom McCormick, SIOR, FRICS, Chief Executive Officer. McCormick is the first SIOR designee to hold an executive position within the organization.
McCormick, an industrial specialist based out of Irvine, California, has had a long-spanning career in commercial real estate, serving most recently as Senior Vice President – National Accounts for Rockefeller Group International, a leading real estate developer, owner, and investor. In this role, McCormick’s responsibilities included development of new opportunities for industrial and office real estate business. McCormick began his real estate career in 1981 with Coldwell Banker Commercial before joining Colliers Macaulay Nicolls, a privately held Canadian-based commercial brokerage company with 85 offices around the world. He served for three years as President of the firm before joining Panattoni as their Chief Operating Officer.
McCormick takes over as CEO of the 77-year-old organization, whose designation has signified the highest standard among industrial and office professionals since its inception. Established in 1941, SIOR now extends to 48 chapters worldwide, consisting of nearly 3,200 members in more than 685 cities in 36 countries.
“I became involved with SIOR early in my career because I saw it as an opportunity to become an elite member of the commercial real estate industry,” McCormick said. “In the years following, I have seen SIOR grow and advance to become the premier organization for industrial and office professionals — and I believe that we are just getting started. As our industry enters an exciting and unprecedented period of evolution, SIOR is looking to the future, and I am excited to guide our organization in pursuit of that vision.”
Since earning his SIOR designation in 1985, McCormick has held numerous leadership roles within the organization, having served as SIOR Global President, as well as President of the SIOR Foundation (SIORF) and his local chapter. McCormick has also served as SIOR’s Operations Director on the Board of Directors.

SIOR is strengthening its leadership throughout the organization, and has made the following staffing announcements:
- Jennifer Johnson, CAE, has been named Vice President of Marketing and Communications. With more than 20 years of experience, most recently at mdg, an association- and event-focused agency in Reston, Virginia, Johnson brings a wealth of marketing, communications, and public relations expertise in both the non-profit and for-profit sectors. Recently appointed as Vice Chair of ASAE’s marketing section council, Johnson will serve as chair next year. Johnson will lead the marketing and communications department and oversee all internal and external communications.
- Michael Topp has been promoted to Vice President of Membership. With 12 years of experience at SIOR while holding several Membership-related positions, Topp will now lead SIOR’s Membership Department, overseeing chapter relations, admissions, and membership administration/management.
- Lizzy Lokken has been promoted to Vice President of Programs. With 11 years of experience as Director of Programs, Lokken will now oversee and expand SIOR’s vast array of programs.
